With a law degree and a decade of experience in the fashion industry, Beverly Beal has combined her passions in a successful career in fashion law.  In her lifestyle blog, Life in Beverly Heels, she gives her unique perspective on everything from personal style and fitness to entrepreneurship and travel.  We caught up with Beverly for a glimpse into her world…

How did you begin as a fashion attorney?

Well, fashion began for me at an early age.  I've always loved clothes and I wasted no time getting into the field.  I started working in the industry at only 14, so it is definitely my first love.  I didn't really discover my love for law until my last year in high school.  It was then I decided that I would attend law school after college.  Out of nowhere I came up with the idea to combine both fashion and law.  The decision was inspired by my recent move to New York.

What does your work involve?  What's the best thing about your role?

My work involves a great deal of reading and writing.  I look at several agreements in a day.  I think the best part about my job is that no day is quite the same.  Rather, I'm blogging or at the office.  I never really know what the next day will be like and I love that.

And what's the biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge is definitely time management.  I'm the kind of person that doesn't know how to say no.  So at any given time I have several things on my plate and some days not even 24 hours is enough.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I love just being at home, seriously nothing makes me happier.  Being able to relax with some good food and my TV.  It doesn't matter what's on as long as I am relaxed.

What's your number one fashion tip?

Invest wisely.  Shopping can be expensive.  Choosing classic and timeless pieces are key.

What inspires you, both in your work and life in general?

What inspires me at work are other women.  I love seeing women in powerful roles and being able to positively use their influence.  What personally inspires me is my mom.  She is literally superwoman to me.  Nothing in my eyes she cannot do.

Did you have any resolutions for the year?

Same resolutions every year.  Be patient, have faith, and forgive myself constantly.
